Class Description

This internationally-recognized course provides detailed information for law enforcement about the current overdose crisis and includes discussions about how to better identify, interact with and assist those most affected by substance use disorder (SUD). Other topics include Medically Assisted Recovery (MAR), naloxone usage/distribution, harm reduction, and stigma associated with SUD. 

Members of Law Enforcement, Healthcare Professionals, and those who work in the Treatment Community are encouraged to attend.

Topics discussed include but are not limited to:

De-mystifying those suffering from Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and how this understanding can help law enforcement do their job more effectively

Medically Assisted Recovery (MAR), its critical role and impact on law enforcement operations

Harm Reduction initiatives - their history, current use, and future potential

Communicable diseases (HIV and Hepatitis) and the challenge they present for law enforcement

Stigma and its role in addressing SUD

Trauma informed care
